Bali, Indonesia

Bali is an incredible place to go and relax. It is one of the nicest places to hang out on the beach and experience Asian culture at the same time. Kuta is known as one of the top 10 beaches in the world.

Bali is one of the more touristy islands in Indonesia. Aussies, Europeans, and Americans flock there to relax on exotic beaches were massages are at your beckon call and are cheap to boot. The island is full of exotic things to see and do. The island is very different in many ways from the rest of Indonesia. For one thing, in one of the largest Muslim countries, Bali is primarily Hindu.

As you tour around the island you will see many shrines and temples sacred to the Hindu people. You will find them friendly and inviting. For religious and cultural reasons, you should learn about the culture before you go so as not to offend those who live in Bali. For instance shorts in temples are not allowed, nor is wearing of shoes in certain places. It is worth learning about the culture as it makes travel there that much more rewarding.

For the backpacking crowd, Bali represents a great destination with inexpensive accommodations and food. Travel around the island itself can be cheap if you look carefully. Seafood is served along Kuta Beach, the fresh catch each day is available to eat that evening on the beach while watching the sun set.

Bali is a lovely vacation spot. Of course from the Central United States it is a long haul. Many international airlines and even Continental Airlines serves Bali. Many airlines including Singapore Airlines offer packages that put you in great hotels and provide good air service at a reasonable price. I strongly going to Bali if you have a week or two to spare.
