China is one of the few remaining Communist countries in the world. As they open up to the world for economic as well as political reasons, China is embracing capitalism and through isolated movements in special parts of the country is changing drastically how the Chinese live their lives. Also, as some of the regions open up, they are allowing foreign investment which can be beneficial to first world countries who have the capital to invest in new infrastructure among other things.
China offers a vast pool or human resources at low cost. This allows some companies to produce mass quantities of textiles and other goods in China for export to other parts of the world. The hard currency inflow from the rest of the world helps fuel their growing economy and allows for the purchase of more infrastructure from companies around the world.
China is one of the world's leaders in producing healthy young children for adoption by loving homes around the world. Because adoptions come under central control in China they are easier and more secure than those in some of the war torn countries or other countries under serious economic strife, such as Russia.
