Europe There are many aspects of Europe that make it a great destination. There are many ways to see Europe. One is by rail, another is by car, and even by airplane. I recently found a site that makes the latter a reality, www.europebyair.com provides a site that allows planning of trips around Europe at a greatly reduced price. Our trip to Europe was exciting and uneventful. We ;left Madrid before the Basque Separatists renewed their threats to blow up things and people. We enjoyed a save and exciting visit to Madrid and to Lisbon. We were in hotels with good locations in both cities making it easy to get around to see sights and find places to grab a bite to eat. In Madrid, we stayed near to the Plaza de Mayor which is the main square in Madrid. We walked the streets and took in the sights. We had fun interacting with the locals when we needed to do business. I practiced some of my Spanish while Darlene looked on. Of course during that time, Darlene was trying to deal with Morning sickness. While in Madrid we also took a hop on/hop off tour bus around the city. This helped us see some of the sights a bit further from our hotel. It was a three minute walk from the hotel to the first stop on this tour bus line. The price was minimal. While in Lisbon we took part in an all day tour of the city and the areas on the West Coast of Europe. One notable landmark we saw was the Westernmost point of Europe. We were there for the viewing of a beautiful sunset. The tour through Lisbon helped us realize that the city is made up of several very distinct regions each with various unique aspects. One of the areas hosted a nice little shop that provided tasting of the local Port Wine and also offered to see some for high tourist prices. We stayed near to one of the main traffic circles in the city. This allowed us to enjoy the statue in the center of the circle as well as easy access to their subway system. Lisbon is a nice city and we really enjoyed ourselves there.
