Madrid, Spain

We had a great Fall trip to Spain. We landed in Madrid and just by luck the driver from the hotel we planned to use was there waiting on another couple of passengers. We got lucky since we had not pre-arranged his assistance. After a short ride through the outskirts of Madrid, we arrived at our hotel located on a one-way street deep in the heart of the city.

While visiting the city we appreciated the nice architecture and other sites. There are loads of historical sites as well as museums. We even took a couple hour stroll through some of the museums. Nice and enchanting is how I would best describe Madrid. The folks there were friendly and helpful. The city is filled with beautiful people who seem to enjoy life.

The one thing that took some getting used to seeing was the diners and meat markets with pigs and other animals hanging in the windows. In the USA we are used to strict temperature guidelines for storing meats so it was quite a shock.

Overall Madrid was a wonderful choice of a place to visit. I hope that we get a chance to go back again for a few days. I also want to see more of Spain since she had such an influence over much of the United States during its infancy. While on our trip to Madrid we also spent some time in both Portugal and Morocco.
