Texas

What makes Texas Great!

Texas is an awesome state. Yes I's sure some figure we are biased since we live here and of our group 2/3rds have lived here their entire lives. The other 1/3rd rank Texas as the best place to have a primary residence. (Yes vacation homes in Florida and Alaska would certainly make for a great trip of places to live in retirement.)

Texas aside from being big, only outsized in the USA, by Alaska (but in Australia by a few political subdivisions of the country). We have great beaches, mountains, plains, big cities, small towns, caverns, amusement parks, water parks galore, and tons of college and professional sports teams. Oh yea, we have tons of oil and natural gas, cattle, other livestock, and even a daily Texas Longhorn Cattle drive thru the streets of Ft. Worth.

For those who love water sports involving the wind, you probably already know South Padre Island is an awesome spot for those sports. Of course there is great fishing there and many other spots along the coast. Many folks like to head offshore out by oil platforms and the such to pick off the red snapper hanging out around those structures. There are many native species that make good eating when fresh out of the Gulf, including flounder (I like it stuffed and baked).

Out West of Austin or North of San Antonio, in the Texas Hill Country, where the deer roam the ravines and hills with scrub brush. Yes it would be a bad place for a grass fire, but otherwise is a beautiful place for those who like nature. The topography is such that houses can't easily be built one atop another such as in the big cities. Thus folks get a bit of land around their houses allowing the wildlife to roam about for a great view.

Further West are actually mountain in Texas among a similar sparse topography. It offers up some really unique rock formations worthy of visiting. Few people live out in these areas making for a remote natural setting. Water being scarce makes it difficult to raise much livestock out on those ranches so even the cattle are few and far between.

Texas has so much to offer all who come here to visit. It is worth coming to spend a week or two here at any time of the year.

Vacationing in Texas, a great Idea!!!
