West Coast
Our West Coast Experiences
We have been to all three of the West Coast States in the Continental USA as well as Alaska. Most of us have also been to Hawaii, not that it's on the West Coast.
We've enjoyed time around the LA, San Diego, and San Francisco seeing various sites. We've also spent time at Disney's original Disney Land in Anaheim, CA. It is neat to go there every once in a while to see where it all started. After years of trips to Disney World in Florida, seeing it all compacted into a small area within a city is very different than seeing it on a large master planned community in Central Florida.
Trips along the coast have shown us much beautiful scenery along the coast. Of course between San Diego and LA, it can get pretty congested with tons of traffic.
Our Oregon visit was part of a trip to Idaho and points nearer to the National Parks. What we saw was a lot of forest type areas while we were in Oregon. It's beautiful up there!
Washington, like Oregon was another beautiful spot we have visited. We have not yet gone to the volcano although have seen it from the airplane as we have flown in to Seattle. We've not spent a bunch of time up there and may next time we visit some of the National Parks up in the Pacific Northwest.
Alaska is among my favorite places to visit. We are fortunate to have family up in Anchorage which does make it even more fun to visit. We have been all the way down to Seward, and around other smaller towns along the road from Anchorage to Seward, including thru the tunnel to Whittier. It is all so beautiful and full of wild life.
As a family (DDVTX only) our reach thru the state of Alaska from the far reaches on the North at Barrow, AK (As far North as you can go on the continent) and visited there in the dead of Winter. We have been as far South as the border with British Columbia offshore on the Inside Passage. Technically, the inside passage starts a bit North but I am sure you get the picture. I guess the farthest West is also Barrow. East I believe would be somewhere in the Inside Passage.
We have had a lot of fun traveling around the West Coast of the USA.
Things to Do on the West Coast
So much to do, lets look at the options:
Alaska is not known for its swimming beached however many of the beaches are full of wildlife which makes great animal watching. There are plenty of opportunities to watch and take pictures. Watch the animals get their meals for the day.
California is great for wine tours, beaches, and Disney Land and California Adventure.
